We want to extend a special thank you to our CAP Dinner Sponsors:
We will select a new cohort each spring semester (for the year, unless there are vacant slots in the fall). Below are some answers to frequently asked questions.
Q: What is the purpose of the Consulting and Advisory Practicum (CAP)?
A: CAP is designed to provide its members with meaningful experiences while engaging in efforts to help identify solutions to operating problems faced by organizations in the Auburn community.
Q: What are the requirements to be admitted as a CAP participant?
A: CAP applicants must be initiated members of Beta Alpha Psi (BAP).
CAP applicants will complete a short application and may be asked to participate in a short panel-based interview discussion before the application decision date.
As part of the application, CAP members must sign a confidentiality agreement with our client to participate, as you may have access to confidential and sensitive information.
Q: What is the weekly time commitment for CAP?
A: Due to the nature CAP engagements, it is difficult to predict the weekly time commitment precisely. It will likely range from two to six hours per week, with an average of three to four hours per week (including status meetings). Click here for a copy of the current academic year’s CAP calendar (meetings are on Mondays at 5pm).
Q: Are CAP members required to attend BAP meetings or fulfill service hours?
A: No. CAP members are relieved of BAP commitments, including regularly scheduled meetings and any service requirements. CAP members who wish to attend BAP meetings do so voluntarily, while continuing to fulfill their CAP commitments.

Q: What would be my role in CAP?
A: CAP members will team to collectively use their problem-solving, project management, and possibly some accounting, IT, or related skills to solve or suggest possible solutions to real business operating problems.
Q: What is the current state of CAP?
A: CAP had an excellent inaugural year in 2024-25 and received rave reviews from participants and “clients” alike. We are excited to expand our reach into new projects at AU and in our community.
Q: What is the duration of CAP membership?
A: Membership in the Consulting & Advisory Practicum (CAP) is structured on an annual basis, with an opportunity to reassess involvement after the first semester (spring). Continued participation into the second semester is based on several factors, including—but not limited to—your performance, mutual interest, and the scope of the client project.
